Flu (influenza) is a serious illness that hospitalises thousands of people and sadly causes many deaths in England each year. The flu vaccine is the best protection for you and for those around you.

Itโ€™s important to have your flu vaccination every year, even if youโ€™ve had it before or have previously been ill with flu. Immunity fades over time, and flu viruses change each year.

Flu clinics are expected to begin in early October.

Those eligible for a flu vaccine are:

๐Ÿฆ  Children aged 2 and 3 (invited to the surgery)

๐Ÿฆ  Pregnant women

๐Ÿฆ  People with certain long-term health conditions

๐Ÿฆ  People aged 65 and over

๐Ÿฆ  Those in long-stay residential care homes

๐Ÿฆ  Carers in receipt of carerโ€™s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person

๐Ÿฆ  Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals

๐Ÿฆ  School-aged children from Reception to Year 11 (offered in school)

๐Ÿฆ  Frontline health and social care workers

We kindly ask patients not to call the practice to book an appointment at this stage and to wait to be contacted.

๐Ÿ“ž Please make sure your mobile number is up to date in your records. If you do not have a mobile, we will contact you by another method. ๐Ÿ“ž

Thank you for your patience and support as we prepare for another busy vaccination season! ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿค—

Hume Street Medical Centre Car Park

Hume Street Medical Centre car park provides free parking for patients attending appointments on-site or visiting the pharmacy only. You will have plenty of time for your appointment and/or to collect your prescription.

This has been introduced to prevent inappropriate use of our car park, such as for visiting Kidderminster Hospital. This prevented genuine surgery patients from being able to park onsite to attend their appointments within the Hume Street Medical Centre.

111 is the NHS non-emergency number. Itโ€™s fast, easy and free. Call 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

In case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 999.
